MacMillan Cancer Support

'Paul Reed-Clayton, President of Bidston Golf Club's Vets presented a cheque for £600 to Gillian Wilson of Macmillan Cancer Support.  Gillian visited Bidston on Wednesday 13 April 2011 and told the assembled members that she was delighted to receive their contribution.  She outlined the ways in which MCS assisted a wide range of people needing support as a result of deaths through cancer.'

Jim Willoughby Celebrates his 90th Birthday

Jim was introduced to Bidston Golf Club, 42 years ago in 1969, by Bill Daniels, who was his then boss at Manweb.

He has been a regular player through all this time, having won 5 competitions, plus making a hole in 1 on the 9th hole a couple of years after joining.

As you can imagine he has been a long time member of the Vets group and is still a regular player in the 12 hole matches summer & winter; but only after first walking his dog.

He actually got a hole in 1 in 2008 when only 87! This was, on the winter tees and green on the par 4 - 1st hole.

The photograph shows Captain Guy Cockroft making a presentation to Jim on May 18th for his 90th Birthday

Congratulations Jim from all the members!
