A player must play the same ball from tee to green, unless a rule allows substitution. To accomplish this a player must be able to identify his ball when it is in play. It is recommended that the ball is suitably marked. The player must announce to fellow competitor or opponent his intention to identify his ball, he must mark, lift and clean the ball only to the extent necessary for identification.

The places where a ball may be lifted but not cleaned include, when a ball is lifted to determine if its unfit for play, to identify, when lifted due to interference or assistance

Ball moves after address?

If your ball moves once you have taken your address, it is a 1 stroke penalty. The ball is replaced on its original spot.
