Alan Norwood

Alan has been a qualified professional since 1986 and joined us here at Bidston in April 2005. Alan played his junior golf at Hawarden Golf Club and did his training at the Llandudno (Maesdu) Golf Club in North Wales.

Although he no longer competes in professional tournaments he still enjoys playing with members when he has a slot in his coaching diary. On the teaching side, he has an excellent reputation for improving play, and also for relaxed, friendly sessions. To contact Alan for lessons or advice, please call 07747 698 311.

Alan can also boast a newly fitted pro shop which stocks leading brands of clubs at competitive prices, including a free custom fitting service. There is also a large selection of quality leisure wear for men , women and juniors. Alan also offers an expert club repair service.

Trolley hire is available to both members and visitors.

Expert tuition is available to members and non-members and for a limited period only. Alan has special deals on blocked booked sessions.

“Back to Basics”

  1. A good Stance is paramount to a good Swing.
  2. It is the solid base you are going to rotate from.
  3. The Stance is really the core of your swing.
  4. It is the solid foundation on which your swing is constructed.
  5. A good Stance will help you retain balance when swinging.
  6. A Stance that is not quite will make you unbalanced and make your swing irregular and uneven. 
  7. How should your Stance look?
  8. Your feet should be shoulder width apart.
  9. You can have them closer or wider apart, that’s up to you.
  10. The most important thing to remember is to feel comfortable.
  11. Put the ball in the middle of your feet.
  12. Place the club behind the ball.
  13. This is the basic structure of the perfect stance.
