Bidston’s Senior Past captain Bill Leigh, celebrated his Diamond Jubilee at the club this week, by achieving 60 years as a member.
Bill. a Past Captain for over thirty years, has seen many changes to the Course and Clubhouse during that time.
During his time at the Club, Bill has seen the Club flourish “Despite the changes over the years, fundamentally the club is still the same” “Although I don’t play much these days, the Course is still in magnificent condition and over the last 60 years I have made some really good friends here” he said.
To commemorate his Diamond Jubilee, Bill’s family purchased a splendid trophy and donated it to the club.
The Captain said “It is a marvelous achievement for Bill to have spent 60 years of his life as a member of Bidston. Bill is a well respected Past Captain and is a valuable source of knowledge. We are proud to commemorate his Jubilee with the introduction of a new Club Competition”
The ‘Bill Leigh Diamond Jubilee Trophy’ will be played for annually and will be open to all sections of the membership
Congratulations to Bill from all the members of Bidston
